The New Orleans Metro Bicycle Coalition's (MBC) now annual event, the Bicycle Second Line, gathers more than 500 riders for a 10-mile tour of the city. The event, now in its third year, is Sunday, May 22. (Learn more about the MBC in Gambit's bike issue.)
Bikes take off at 10 a.m. from Jefferson Davis Parkway at Bienville Street and rides in a square from Mid-City through Uptown, the CBD, French Quarter, Faubourg Marigny and back.
A New Orleans Police Department escort — and two bands — will lead the more than 500 riders wheelin' through the city.
The MBC also is raising funds through the event: $25 gets you a T-shirt and beverage tickets, and $35 is good for a T-shirt, beverage tickets and MBC membership.
For those not riding, let this serve as a heads-up, and arrange driving plans accordingly.
