Soundgarden named Voodoo Fest headliner

Posted by Alex Woodward on Wed, Jun 1, 2011 at 11:14 AM

The Seattle rock band Soundgarden — credited as "grunge" torchbearers in the early '90s and alt-rock radio mainstays with the success of 1991's Badmotorfinger and 1994's Superunknown are slated as one of the headliners for the Voodoo Experience, the three-day music festival held Oct. 28-30 in City Park.

Frontman Chris Cornell and guitarist Kim Thayil founded the group in the early '80s and played consistently throughout the '90s until a hiatus in 1997. Last year, Cornell took to Twitter to announce a potential reunion, and the band did so a few months later. With a summer tour in the works, the Voodoo slot marks a potential tie-in to a new album, which may surface as early as later this year or sometime in 2012.

Voodoo ticket pre-sales are open: $125 for three-day general admission, $375 for three-day LOA Lounge VIP passes, and $425 for LOA Lounge passes (with parking).

I see X is scheduled to play NOLA October 30th. Fair to assume they're part of the fest?
