If you're not following the Voodoo Experience's Twitter and Facebook accounts, you might be missing on the festival's slowly unveiling lineup. Soundgarden was announced as the first "big name" headlining the 13th annual event, followed by mashup artist Girl Talk, who'll be on the Le Plur stage.
Here's what we know thus far:
Soul Rebels Brass Band and GIVERS are the two Louisiana artists on the bill. Check out the story on GIVERS in this week's Gambit. Ozomatli will star on the WWOZ stage, and a reunited X, the legendary L.A. punk outfit, also joins the fest.
The rest: Canada's City & Colour, pop-punk band My Chemical Romance, psych-pop outfit Portugal, The Man, soul-influenced pop ensemble Fitz & the Tantrums, and longtime Orange County punks Social Distortion.
And yesterday, Voodoo announced husband-and-wife pop duo Mates of State and Major Lazer have joined the lineup. (Major Lazer joins the Le Plur stage.)
Major Lazer is the collaborative nom de plume for super-producer DJs Diplo and Switch for their psychedelic dancehall and reggae-influenced club music. You've probably heard "Pon De Floor" somewhere in the last couple years.
The event is Oct. 28-30 in City Park. Tickets are here. We'll keep you updated with more lineup announcements as they roll out.

This is the most annoying lineup roll out ever. I liked 2009 when they did the word scramble contest... mostly because I almost won it.
It seems like whoever is creating the lineup is pulling names out of a hat. It's random act after random act. The only ones I'm interested in are GIVERS, Major Lazer, and maybe Girl Talk. With respect to them, I'm still waiting for a couple of names that would compel me to buy a ticket.
This will be my last Voodoo fest as I have been going to Voodoo since 2003 and spending alot of money. but a long delay in posting the full line up is unfair to people living in other states who want to make hotel plans and airline plans.Soundgarden and My Chemical Romance will be alot of fun but maybe ithe festival should go back to just two days....usually a long delay in posting the full line up of music equals alot of unknown music.......this WAS a great festival years ago
