You can quibble or argue all you want about Treme (and here's the place to do it), but it's indisputably one of the best-acted dramas on TV these days. Apparently the TV industry doesn't agree, though, as Treme got completely hosed at this morning's announcement of the 63rd annual Emmy Awards. (Last year it got only two noms.) Veteran TV reporter Tim Goodman of The Hollywood Reporter called the omission "inexcusable."
With six actors nominated in each category, it's inexplicable how Melissa Leo and Khandi Alexander weren't both in the Best Actress in a Drama category, nor Wendell Pierce in Best Actor. And, I would argue, Phyllis Montana LeBlanc and possibly Elizabeth Ashley in the Best Supporting Actress category. (Check this article, "6 Emmy Nominations that Should Go to Treme, But Probably Won't," for more opinion.)
So: what explains a total shutout? Is the show too "inside baseball" for the tastemakers on the coasts? Is it simply not The Wire, so disgruntled David Simon fans have turned away? Or is Simon too much of a polarizing personality among the voters?

The got it right by not considering Treme for an Emmy. The first season was very very good and refreshing but by the time, season 2 rolled around, Treme had turned into just another crack urban Negro drama, which was always the intention of this HBO show to begin with.
Time Warner which owns HBO and Time Magazine, even had Time magazine, during the first season writing articles because they wanted Treme to come out the gates looking like an urban crack story and when this wasnt the case, Time Magazine got upset.
Now if Treme wants to hire me as a writer, being that the head writer of this show passed away before the filming of the first season then thy can come and ask me and pay me but HBO appears to be run by nazis with a government agenda of pushing crack.
shut up stupid...really???is that what the show needs???mr. creole guy to write some "authentic" louisiana drama???get over yourself dummy...
Khandi Alexander deserves to be nominated and to win. This is the most intelligent, nuanced and in all ways excellent series on television. Missed the boat because audiences don't like to think. Perhaps the industry requires viewers to dumb down so Treme is bucking the system in more ways than one. As for creoleguy32, you sound like nobody offered you a cookie.
what can we expect....New Orleans is no longer in the national conciousness...so, of course the Emmy group falls in line...
The show is gaining strength, but still lacks any real star quality performances. Almost all of the cast is in a supporting role and the way the show is filmed makes it even more difficult for anyone stand out.
Complete and total crap. Melissa Leo was absolutely sublime this year. So was Khandi Alexander. They get snubbed why? Because the Emmy nominations are a joke. But it's nice to see Melissa McCarthy is nominated for being a big fat ass who doesn't know how to put down a fucking fork! I'd like to some up "Mike and Molly" in four seconds. "I'm a disgusting fat slob with no self control, but I have another disgusting fat slob with no self control to enable me! BURP! FART!"
The Emmy's should be ashamed. They wouldn't know good TV if it came flying out of Melissa McCarthy's fat white ass with a horrendous flatulent!
