Tonight: Hip-hop flash mob on Frenchmen Street

Posted By on Thu, Jul 21, 2011 at 4:31 PM

Flash mobs, especially those of the dance variety, are all the rage lately — locally, Popeyes recently hosted one to promote its healthier menu items, and there was one during Essence Festival. Tonight NOLA Hip Hop hosts one on Frenchmen Street at around 11 p.m.

Dancer Marissa Joseph is the owner of NOLA Hip Hop, and she teaches classes, as well as hip-hop aerobics, at studios around town. She also leads the NOLA Hip Hop dance troupe, who will be spearheading tonight's flash mob (hit the jump for a video of the troupe's recent performances at the AllWays Lounge and Dragon's Den).

The dancers are meeting on the side of Mojitos Rum Bar & Grill near the corner of Decatur and Frenchman Streets, and dancing should start around 11 p.m.

On a related note: when do you think Flash Mob Planking is going to become a thing?
