Edwin Edwards, bartender

The event will look nothing like this, actually.

For those who wish former Gov. Edwin Edwards would just go away and relax far from the public spotlight for the remainder of his pee-paw years: don't go near Decatur Street tonight. The EWE juggernaut, the Gov on the Loose, the Cirque du Edwin will roll on when Edwards takes up the cocktail shakers and soda guns at Molly's at the Market as a guest bartender for the evening. (No guarantee he'll be mixing up any of these.)

The Press Club of New Orleans has organized the event — and the group is also holding a booksigning event beforehand at Hermann-Grima House, where Edwards and "authorized biographer" Leo Honeycutt will be inscribing copies of Edwin Edwards: Governor of Louisiana. (Note: Team Edwards/Honeycutt will have you know this is a "special commemorative edition of the book, with an official seal.") A few spare tickets ($10) may or may not be available at the door. Supporters may look into wearing this for the occasion.
