Star Trek deity, recording artist, ageless pop cultural icon and fried turkey guru, William Shatner will headline the second annual Wizard World Comic Con New Orleans, a two-day pop culture-obsessed traveling roadshow.
Shatner appears at the convention Saturday, Jan. 28, at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.
The Wizard World con made its New Orleans debut in January, a massive success, organizers said, with more than 10,000 attendees over the two-day event. "When we decide to do an event in a market," Wizard World president Gareb Shamus told Gambit, "it's our intent to be there forever." (Last year, the con welcomed Billy Dee Williams, Batman's Adam West and Burt Ward, The Walking Dead cast, and Shatner's cohort Walter Koenig, among others.)
This year, Shatner joins other visiting celebrities Mary McDonnell, James Marsters, Michael Biehn, WWE stars Diva Kelly Kelly and Zack Ryder, and Adam ("Not that Baldwin!") Baldwin, and others.
Dozens of comic book artists and authors also are starring at the con, as well as a host of costuming groups, collectors, vendors and other fringe-culture devotees manning the booths inside the convention center — not to mention the costumed con attendees.
The 2012 Wizard World New Orleans Comic Con is 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29. Tickets are $40 for both days, or $25 each day — more ticket info here.
