We've had Running of the Bulls for a few years now; now comes Running of the Santas to the Warehouse District Dec. 17. It's an event that's taken place in other cities for a few years now, so why not New Orleans?
The (informal) rules are these:
• Dress up like Santa.
• Run around.
• Don't forget to drink.
Tickets are $15 and include admission to Ernst Cafe and Generations Hall (the start and terminus of the event), along with drink specials and musical entertainment ($35 VIP tickets are also available). For each ticket purchased, $2 will go to the That Others May Live Foundation.
The legal waiver includes this:
2) I understand that participating in the Running of the Santas may carry with it certain risks, especially those created by participating in a group foot race and involvement in an event which may include consumption of alcohol.
Well, duh. Under the jump — more details (including a "Naughty Mrs. Claus" contest ... hmmm.... )
New Orleans’ day-long “Running of the Santas” festival will include three stages involving several restaurants and bars in the Warehouse District. Activities at Stage Two commence at 3 pm at the “South Pole” which will be set up at Ernst Café, followed by a fun run starting at South Peters and Lafayette Streets at 6 pm. Runners and crawlers will make their way to the “North Pole” set up at Generations Hall at 310 Andrew Higgins Drive. “Category 6,” New Orleans newest party band, will provide the entertainment at Generations Hall till midnight.
Event sponsors are planning to set up several food booths at both venues as well as hold a “Naughty Mrs. Claus” contest, sponsored by Saks Fifth Avenue later in the evening at Generations Hall.
