Posted By on Tue, Jan 10, 2012 at 12:38 PM

The New Orleans Police Department is now reporting that 18-year-old Shawn Ballard, who is suspected of shooting five people outside Warren Easton High School after a basketball game last Friday, turned himself in yesterday. Ballard is being charged with one count of attempted second degree murder, according to an email from NOPD spokeswoman Remi Braden.

Here's the wanted bulletin on Ballard, released yesterday:

GIST: The wanted subject was positively identified as the person responsible for a shooting that occurred at North Gayoso and Iberville Street after a basketball game at Warren Easton High School. The wanted subject is known to frequent the 8800 block of Hickory Street, between Eagle and General Ogden Streets. The wanted subject is also known to hang out with several other males at the above listed locations.

And here's a picture of a Shawn Ballard from Facebook. (Note: While the Facebook profile identifies its owner as living in Paris, France, it includes a number of clear references to New Orleans, pictures of Ballard in the French Quarter and in front of a church in the neighborhood identified above. Not to mention there's a very striking resemblance between the man in this picture and the one above.)
