Even though the Saints and the LSU Tigers fell short of winning championships this year, New Orleans will continue to be sort of an American sports mecca for the next year or so as the host of the NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four and next year's Super Bowl. If you're looking for someone to thank for all these big-name events coming into town, look no further than the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation. And, if you want to do more than just enjoy these events and actually take part in them, now's your chance.

GNO Sports is currently putting out a call for 8,000 volunteers to help out with this year's Final Four, next year's Super Bowl and the slew of activities that accompany each event. GNO Sports volunteer coordinator Stew Krane said, "Volunteers, not just the athletes, are the force behind each event. Not a single event we host in New Orleans can be a success without the commitment of our outstanding volunteer force."

To sign up, all you have to do is go to the GNO Sports volunteer sign-up site and follow the instructions. This year's Final Four will feature a free concert series as well as community outreach programs that include planting trees in City Park to handing out sneakers to underprivileged children. This is not, however, a chance to get into games for free but rather a chance to help GNO Sports in the New Orleans community.

For more information about how to volunteer, contact volunteers@gnosports.com or call 504-525-5678, and ask for Jeff Rossi, Director of Volunteers or Krane.

GNOSF is great, I've had a blast working the New Orleans Bowl and this summer's AAU Junior Olympics. I'll definitely work the Final Four & the Super Bowl.

I had such a great experience while volunteering with Jeff i and Stew!! They cater to their volunteers and make sure that we are enjoying the experience while effectively getting the job done! If you've never volunteered with GNOSF then you are definitely missing out! Join me in volunteering for the 2012 Men's Final Four!!!!!
