Y@ Speak: Springtime in New Orleans edition

Posted By on Mon, Mar 19, 2012 at 12:22 PM

It's that time between Carnival and festival season when the weather is not yet terrible and heatstroke-inducing, so it's a nice time to enjoy parades and second lines and other outdoor things. This weekend alone we had the day-drinking massacre known as St. Patrick's Day, followed by Super Sunday, when the opulently attired Mardi Gras Indians make our attempts at costuming look really pathetic by comparison. Things on the outdoor festivals/events front are just going to get crazier from here, so remember: stay hydrated (and not on booze and melty sno-balls) and keep in mind that just because it's in front of you, you don't need to eat all the food. Also this week: New Orleanians go to South by Southwest, Buku Music + Art Project brings quality hip-hop and robot fart music ("dubstep") to New Orleans, and the GOP race continues.
