"Why is the NOPD — which, from time to time, takes as much as three days to get around to making a homicide announcement — sending out a press release about a goddamn parked car hit and run?" is what I thought at first.
Then I realized that this everyday crime about which I couldn't care less came with these delightful pictures, which I love. Presumably taken by the victim with his or her phone camera, the alleged perpetrator and her companion are captured in an emotional sweet spot precisely halfway between bewildered and pissed.

NOPD Need the Public’s Assistance in Locating and Identifying a Hit and run Driver from Uptown Last Month
(April 17, 2012) New Orleans police are investigating a Hit and run which left a parked car badly damaged. The accident occurred shortly before 6:45am at the intersections of South Claiborne Avenue and Pine Street.
Police say, the owner of the parked car was alerted by a roommate a silver Chevrolet Impala ran into the rear of her vehicle and fled into the nearby “Burger King” parking lot. The Victim walked to the parking lot to approach the driver of the silver Chevrolet Impala when she denied striking the vehicle and then drove off. The Hit and run driver fled the scene at a high rate of speed.
The vehicle is described as an Older Model Chevrolet Impala bearing Louisiana temp tag Number 15796812 with extensive front end damage. The driver of the Chevy Impala is described as an African American female in her 20’s or 30’s, dark skin, medium length hair. The passenger is described as an African American female, light skin, wearing a gray shirt.
