Celebrity Watch: Cee-Lo, Mindy Kaling, Paul Walker and more

DISCLAIMER: In no way are we trying to invade anyone’s privacy, but it’s fun to hear about the great places celebrities are visiting while they’re hanging out in New Orleans. We’re appreciative of the people who are way more famous than we’ll ever be for visiting our city and state, spending their money, and sometimes even contributing to our rebuilding and recovery efforts.

That being said….

SPOTTED:

Mindy Kaling got together with pal Aziz Ansari for drinks at Sylvain on Chartres Street Friday night. Possibly in town to film a cameo in Seth Rogen’s new comedy The End of the World, which also includes cameos from Ansari, Jason Segel, Jonah Hill and a dozen other hilarious people, Mindy posted this picture on Twitter. The photo incited my best friend, an uber-fan of Kaling’s, to drive out to Sylvain at 1:30 in the morning, only to find the place closed, and then scream “MINDY!!” in Stella!-like fashion through the streets of the Quarter until about 4:30 am.

Cee-Lo Green, Jamie Foxx and the reunited hip-hop group Goodie Mob hung out at Whiskey Blue in the W Hotel for a post-Jazz Fest party Saturday night. Cee-Lo packed in crowds at the Congo Square stage the same day.

Paul Walker (Fast and Furious franchise) has come to town to film the post-Katrina suspense movie Hours, about a man who fights to keep his baby alive in a hospital immediately after the storm. After the sobbing hysteria that came over me during the last moments of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, I may have to skip this one. Walker has been spotted around Old Metairie, where a lot of the filming has taken place so far.

Besides Sylvain, where lots of people have been visiting lately, I’ve been hearing about weekly visits from Leonardo DiCaprio and Samuel L. Jackson to The Rum House, and dinner stops at Root for Seth Rogen and Russell Brand.

Where else do you think out-of-towners should go to get the full New Orleans experience??
