A Divine day indeed: scenes from Sunday’s second line parade

Posted By on Tue, May 22, 2012 at 5:12 PM

Baby when I tell yoooooou! That second line on Sunday was EVERYTHING!

The Divine Ladies annual parade is guaranteed to be EPIC for several reasons:

(more below the jump!)

1) The debut which is ALWAYS over the top and this year was no exception. Riding in on St. Charles Ave. in a gazebo on wheels, rocking lady-like pastels, then hopped on to the street and tore it down for four straight hours.

2) The music: the Hot 8 Brass Band plays nearly all of their parades and you can always count on them to deliver that genuwine-flavored funk. They had the rope man dancing so hard he could barely focus on his job.

3) Its usually the men that come out in their second line parade with the gorgeous tri-colored $1,000+ Stacy Adams. But these ladies rock one-of-a-kind designer shoes with the best of em.

4) They also lay bare the claim that men have better footwork cause I don’t see NO BROTHERS out there even coming close to the freestyle acrobatics of Ms. Esha Palmer (in the light purple). They really start to set it off around the 7 minute mark.

Congratulations are in order to Divine Ladies President Angie Sever, Shawan Gracin, Janitra Chi Myles, Esha Palmer, Yolanda 'Yoli' Sherman Pittman and Ms Indi CnnDoll Sever for giving New Orleans another epic and divine second line parade.
