Benson and Goodell meet, ESPN wrong

Posted By on Tue, Aug 14, 2012 at 12:42 PM

Monday afternoon the Louisiana State Police announced that they found no evidence that the Saints broke state laws in the wiretapping allegations that came from an ESPN dot com story.

On Tuesday during SportsCenter the network admitted that the eavesdropping story written by John Barr was wrong. They stopped short of issuing an apology and right after the brief reader went to Jets camp where the studio hosts (including head coach Herm Edwards) threw a birthday party for Jets QB Tim Tebow.

Also on Tuesday ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Saints owner Tom Benson and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell met to discuss how the league has handled the bounty situation.

CBS Sports dot com's Mike Freeman added his two cents on the meeting.

Starting to get the sense that reductions in the suspensions of players and coaches could happen. Saints fans can only hope right?
