New burger joints have been spreading around town so fast these days it can be hard even for an avowed burger fanatic to keep up. Next weekend, however, on Aug. 26, an event will gather eight of them under one roof to offer slider-sized samples of their work and ask you to pick the best, all while benefiting an important local cause.
The event is called Burgers, Bourbon & Beer and it’s a fundraiser for the Second Harvest Food Bank. Beverage distributor Glazer’s will supply a variety of the event’s namesake drinks — bourbon cocktails and various beers, with specific drinks paired with each restaurant for the evening.
The list of burger contestants is impressive:
Straight Stick Ranch Burger Co. (the new burger shack at Rock 'N' Bowl)
Only two of these contestants (Bourbon House and Phil’s Grill) have been around for more than two years, a testament to the burger trend in motion.
The restaurants will compete for top honors including “Best Burger” determined by a panel of judges and a “People’s Choice” award chosen by attendees. La Divina Gelateria will provide dessert.
Burgers, Bourbon & Beer is Aug. 26, from 4-7pm, at Generations Hall (310 Andrew Higgins Dr.). Tickets are $35 in advance here. If available, tickets at the door will be $45.
