Tonight: Doug Stanhope at One Eyed Jacks

Doug Stanhope, known for his fairly abrasive and cynical humor, makes a New Orleans stop tonight on his Big Stink Comedy Tour.
Stanhope's screen credits vary, from the one-time host of Girls Gone Wild and The Man Show to last year's acclaimed and sobering turn as Louis C.K.'s long-lost comic pal in the FX series Louie. But his stage chops have produced a dozen albums and accompanying DVDs, including his latest, this year's Before Turning the Gun on Himself. It's another glimpse into his moderately hostile and nihilistic steamroller of a 20-plus-year career venting session — whether it's over Wall Street or his gloriously decaying self.
His excellent time on the couch with Marc Maron on that comic's WTF podcast last year revealed Stanhope to be several leagues apart from his "offensive" stage persona. Listen to it here.
The comedian performs at 7 p.m. at One Eyed Jacks (615 Toulouse St., 569-8361). Tickets are $20. Carlos Valencia and Junior Stopka open.
