Emerging from Tampa, Fla.'s hardcore punk scene — which thrives in relative isolation, with DIY shows in storage facilities or makeshift venues — post-punk outfit Merchandise returns to New Orleans tonight.
The band performed with Heat Dust earlier this year, invoking the brooding personas of Ian Curtis and Morrissey with the angular gyrating of their post-punk predecessors coupled with white-hot noise. The band makes its final stop on a whirlwind East Coast tour following the buzz from its latest LP, Children of Desire (Katorga Works), which is free to download here. Listen to the track "Time" here.
The band performs with Glish, a local shoegaze band with a fresh release —listen to its second EP, Come Down, here.
Merchandise and Glish perform at 7 p.m. tonight at 3 Ring Circus' The Big Top Gallery (1638 Clio St.). Admission $5.
Below the jump, watch the hazy renderings of the track "In Nightmare Room."
