The nominees for the 55th Grammy Awards were announced last night, and a few familiar Louisiana faces grabbed nods in several categories. Dr. John's Locked Down, a collaboration with The Black Keys' Dan Auerbach, was nominated for Best Blues album.
In the Best Regional Roots album category, Corey Ledet & His Zydeco Band earned a nomination for Nothin' But the Best, as did supergroup trio Wayne Toups, Steve Riley and Wilson Savoy for their The Band Courtbouillon.
But New Orleans-raised Frank Ocean scored big with six nominations, including Best New Artist. The R&B star earned a nomination for Record of the Year for "Thinkin' About You" from his acclaimed debut Channel Orange, which is nominated for Album of the Year and Best Urban Contemporary Album.
Ocean's collaboration "No Church in the Wild" with Jay-Z and Kanye West for their Watch the Throne also earned nominations for best Short Form Music Video and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration.
The 55th Grammy Awards are Feb. 10, 2013.
