Creole-style tailgating for charity

Posted By on Wed, Dec 12, 2012 at 10:34 AM

The Taste of the NFL, a series of charitable dining events leading up to the Super Bowl, continues next week with a tailgate-style party at Café Adelaide. On Tuesday, Dec. 18, the Café Adelaide crew will set up a spread of Creole-style party food at a dozen stations outside the downtown restaurant for guests to nosh on during the event.

Wine, beer and a special cocktail are included in the $35 ticket, and among the dishes are char-grilled oysters and oyster shooters, pork belly and foie gras dumplings, duck cracklin’, jalapeno poppers, shrimp and tasso corndogs (a longtime Café Adelaide appetizer) and grilled Krispy Kreme donuts. The event is from 5-7 p.m. For reservations (recommended but not required) call 504-595-3305.

The Taste of the NFL culminates with a high-dollar gala featuring chefs representing each city or region with a NFL franchise. This year’s main event will be held Feb. 2 at the convention center, with tickets starting at $600 each.

Proceeds from all the local Taste of the NFL events go directly to the local Second Harvest Food Bank.
