After a successful inaugural event in 2012, the Giant Puppet Festival has expanded to two weekends, which pits it against the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. Sort of. The puppet festival runs April 25-28 and May 2-5 and most shows begin at 7 p.m. Family-friendly performances run at the Marigny Opera House, and they include Puppetkabob's Lady Arachne and her Web of Marionettes, Complicated Horse Emergency Research's Greech Fronge's Chamber of Insipid Nightmares, Harry Mayronne's Harry's New Orleans High-Strung Puppet Cabaret and the Mudlark Puppeteers' The Monkey King. There also are late-night adults-only shows at the Mudlark Public Theatre. Those shows include the Mudlark Puppeteers' The Devil's Mansion, and Toybox Theatre and Cripps Puppets' A View from the Wham Bam Puppet Slam.
