Though the LSU fight song implores football players to "make Mike the Tiger stand right up and roar," the Bengal-Siberian mix may not be in attendance at all LSU home football games this year, according to a press release from the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine.
That's not because anything is wrong with Mike. “Mike VI is a healthy, normal tiger," says Dr. David Baker, Mike's veterinarian. It's because Mike is a tiger and tigers do what they want. "Student handlers work with Mike VI ... to get him ready to load into his trailer for LSU Tiger home football games. However, being an adult male tiger, he does not always comply," the press release states.
Also, sometimes it's too hot or wet for Mike to attend games. For information on whether or not Mike has deigned to load into his trailer for a home game, visit his Facebook page or check his Twitter account.
