The Treme Gumbo Battle
is for all the people who "don't eat just anybody's gumbo" or who "only eat" their mama's, maw maw's or nanan's gumbo. It's for the folks who house hop on holidays and try to be slick by asking kids what's in the gumbo.
To enter the Treme Gumbo Battle, upload a short video to the Treme Culture Fest's Facebook page
by Oct. 4, explaining why your gumbo is the best, and then ask your Facebook friends to "like" your video. The three contestants with the most popular videos will cook for a panel of celebrity judges at the New Orleans School of Cooking
on Oct. 18, in a segment broadcast live on WWL-TV.
The Treme Gumbo Battle winner gets a $1,000 cash prize.
The Treme Gumbo Battle kicks off the New Orleans Multicultural Tourism Network
's free two-day Treme Culture Fest
which features a lecture series, a jazz mass, a second line, bar crawl and more.
