SOPO (629 N. Carrollton Ave., 504-609-2429) owners Britta Barlogie and Robin Borne got the idea for a fashion fundraiser while cleaning out their closets.
"We had a lot of clothing left over," Barlogie says. "A friend who works for Dress for Success said they need accessories right now."
The duo already had a trunk show planned to showcase Henry & Belle denim — a brand Barlogie says is known for its charitable contributions. They decided to piggyback off that and have a hybrid trunk show/accessories drive for Dress for Success New Orleans, a nonprofit that provides outfits for women to wear to job interviews. The event is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13. There will be free refreshments and cocktails. People who bring in an accessory to donate to Dress for Success receive a discount on Henry & Belle denim.
"You get 20 percent off through Henry & Belle, and we are giving a percentage of all proceeds from the store to Dress for Success," Barlogie says.
Simple, professional-looking accessories are requested.
