To celebrate its one-year anniversary in New Orleans, lululemon athletica (333 Canal St., 504-522-3264) invites people to show up naked to the store for a Birthday (Suit) Jazz Brunch from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30.
"The first 10 guests who choose to celebrate our birthday by wearing their birthday suits will be outfitted with lululemon athletica underwear, a top and a bottom," says assistant manager Brad Showalter.
The nudity aspect is a nod to lululemon founder Chip Wilson. When Wilson opened the first lululemon in Canada, he offered to clothe anybody who showed up naked. More than 300 people obliged, Showalter says.
"We wanted to reach back to our roots," Showalter says. "We also thought it was fitting because New Orleans is home to fun things like this. We have a naked bike ride in the French Quarter and people march naked in Krewe du Vieux to kick off Mardi Gras. In our opinion, it's the perfect convergence of our company's culture with the culture of New Orleans and a tribute to both."
Although guests are invited to come naked, nudity is not required.
