Indywood movie theater debuts tonight in the Marigny

Posted by on Thu, Jan 23, 2014 at 11:47 AM

Local organization Indywood will launch a new movie theater located at 630 Elysian Fields (between Royal and Chartres in the old Wash-Dry-Fold) tonight, Thursday, January 23 with screenings of documentary Water Like Stone and a program of early short films by Court 13, creators of Beasts of the Southern Wild. The brainchild of brother-sister team Will Sampson and Hayley Sampson, Indywood will showcase Louisiana-focused independent films every weekend leading up to Mardi Gras. The group has a long-term goal of crowd-sourcing and distributing indie films online. Tickets for tonight's screenings — which continue through Sunday — are $5, and BYOB is encouraged.
