Dr. John — notably absent from the 2014 Jazz Fest — headlines the 2014 lineup of the French Quarter Festival April 10-13. The festival released its full daily lineup today. Appearing for the first time since 1987, the doctor performs 4 p.m. Friday, April 11 on the Abita Beer Stage in Woldenberg Park.
The free festival features more than 1,400 musicians spread across four days and 21 stages. Find a full list of performances and times here.
Other notable additions: festival newcomers include Dash Rip Rock, Nasimiyu Murumba and Corey Henry's Treme Funktet, among others. Also new in 2014 is the Big River stage in Woldenberg Park.
The Film Festival at French Quarter Festival (presented by Timecode:NOLA) hosts screenings and filmmaker Q&As at Le Petit Theater du Vieux Carre at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 12 and Sunday, April 13. Screenings include The Whole Gritty City and New Orleans Film Festival favorite Bayou Maharajah. There also are panel discussions at The Old U.S. Mint and other activities.
