With Toast’s final inspection scheduled for Monday, the highly-anticipated Laurel Street breakfast spot from the Francophile masterminds behind Tartine will soon be open, much to the delight of Uptown early birds looking for a new morning haunt.

“We wanted an additional place to spotlight how great we are at breakfast,” said Matt Engle. “A lot of people already think of Tartine more like a morning spot than a French restaurant, so it was a natural expansion.”

The dish they’re most excited about? The aebleskivers: poppable, fluffy, round pancakes with a variety of fillings that missed a good chance at being a character on Adventure Time. (They would most certainly win an award for most adorable breakfast food.) Toast will be the first place in the city to serve them daily.

The full menu is available here. In the meantime, if you want to try your hand at aebleskiver creation at home, here’s the special pan for making them.
