Algiers Point residents looking for a new, outside-the-box dining spot will soon have their wish granted as The Appetite Repair Shop makes plans to open in the neighborhood.
Appetite Repair Shop is the brainchild of Pete Vazquez (formerly of Mimi's and Marisol) who currently operates the popular weekly pop-up-meets-delivery-service Hush Supper Club outside of Stein's Deli. Vazquez plans to serve hot and cold prepared foods, daily specials, and dinner items prepared to order.
If the menu is anything similar to the creative dishes currently turned out by Vazquez, diners can expect to enjoy options ranging from spicy Moroccan goat and couscous soup to green herb polenta with duck liver bolognese. The desserts are imaginative standouts as well, having once created the best kouign-amann (a buttery, sugary croissant-like pastry) I've eaten outside of France.
An opening timeline is still to be determined as the shop raises funds to help make repairs to their new space, but diners across the city should start making their West Bank travel plans now.
