Next Thursday, The Louisiana Humanities Center will celebrate its most recent issue of Louisiana Cultural Vistas with a publication party at Turners' Hall (938 Lafayette St.). Richard Campanella and Matt Sakakeeny, who both have excerpts in the issue from longer books they've published within the last year, will be on hand to talk about their work.
Garden District Book Shop will be selling copies of the magazine, which also features works by winners of the Tennessee Williams/New Orleans Literary Festival fiction and poetry contests. Both of those contests are open and accepting submissions in anticipation of the 2015 festival, which is scheduled for March 25-29.
At the publication party, there will be Abita beer and refreshments from Zapp's Potato Chips, both sponsors of the magazine. There's an after-party at the LHC's new craft-cocktail and small plates neighbor, CellarDoor (916 Lafayette St., 504-383-5583), which officially opens the following night.
The party is free, though the LHC is requesting a $5 donation. You can subscribe to Louisiana Cultural Vistas here, which gets you four issues for $20.
