As part of its annual Bastille Day celebration Saturday, July 12 at Spanish Plaza, The Alliance Francaise is also bringing back its annual French dog contest, which is exactly what it sounds like: your dog, dressed as a French dog, for a prize.
There are three separate contests. There's "Most French" (think baguette in mouth, beret on head, stripes and eyeliner), "Best Dressed" (think Chanel) and, finally, "Most Jules Verne" (think steampunk/science fiction).
Don't let Henri le chat noir outshine your canine francophile. It's not just for cats anymore. France is for dogs. Every dog's a winner, and Canine Connection will be handing out goodie bags to all contestants. Gift certificates from Prytania Veterinary Hospital, Canine Connection, Petco and NOLA Bark Market will be given out to contest winners.
Dogs will parade around the Spanish Plaza fountain a la the models at the Riverwalk opening.
