The eye-catching, primary colored building that houses St. Claude's latest dining destination, Kebab, is now open for business.
Inspired by the European street food that's popular from Berlin to Strasbourg, Germany, Kebab's namesake sandwich, the doner kebab, anchors a small-but-mighty menu. Kebab's take on the dish features features spit-fired rotisserie pork, cucumbers, cabbage, and a choice of sauce options, including skhug (spicy cilantro sauce) and tzatziki. A falafel dish and jalapeno roasted pork sandwich (the daily special) round out the entrees, with a handful of sides — Belgian fries, hummus, a light side salad — playing a supporting role.
Kebab's space is equal parts dining area and art gallery, with colorful work y local artists covering one half of the building and a thin wall separating it from the designated dining space. It's a bit unusual, but seems to blend together in a way that makes art approachable and kebabs a bit more high brow.
The restaurant is currently BYOB, with cocktail set-ups available.
While the "official" opening is next Friday, July 25, Kebab's hours will remain the same as during this week's soft launch: Friday through Monday, 3 p.m. until midnight.
