It might not be oyster season, but that didn't stop a new spot devoted to the mollusk — Mr. Ed's Oyster Bar and Fish House — from opening last week.

The new French Quarter restaurant is conveniently located just removed from the bustle of Decatur Street, and is decked out in red and blue neon, with a warm diner feel and plenty of seating at the counter. It serves lunch and dinner seven days a week.

The menu features standard fish house fare, including Cajun crawfish pasta, a stuffed crab dinner and a fried oyster salad. The oyster bar itself serves oysters a number of unusual ways, including "Bienville style" (with shrimp, green onions and mushrooms) or "Southwest style" (charbroiled and topped with jalapeno).

What: Mr. Ed's Oyster Bar and Fish House
Where: 512 Bienville St.
Hours: Open for lunch and dinner, seven days a week
Phone: (504) 309-4848
