It was a movie disastrous enough to make well-known studio executives argue publicly for years about who made the mistake of green-lighting it. Reactions among both audiences and critics to the George Lucas-produced 1986 film Howard the Duck were so negative, Universal Studios honcho Frank Price lost his job upon the film's release, and Variety ran the headline "Duck Cooks Price's Goose." The film regularly makes "worst movies of all time" lists and has naturally acquired a cult following. This summer's smash hit Guardians of the Galaxy features a Howard the Duck cameo, which has piqued curiosity about the oddly costumed live-action character, especially among moviegoers too young to remember him.
Chalmette Movies is bringing back Howard the Duck for three nights, August 29 to 31 at 9:15 p.m. More info here.
