In an amusing collaboration, Hershey helped Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne create a replica of Poverty Point — the 1,001st addition to the UNESCO World Heritage List located just outside of Epps, Louisiana — out of Mounds candy bars.
The replica was created out of 1,001 Mounds bars on the floor of Dardenne's office in celebration of Lousiana's first addition to the UNSECO list. Poverty Point is a collection of prehistoric earthworks and mounds (get it?) made by Native Americans of the Poverty Point culture, and is the largest of its kind in North America.
The candy bars will also be handed out on Oct. 11 at the site's inscription ceremony.
