This year, beer-loving adults can partake in Halloween festivities with the following events sponsored by local breweries on October 30-31:

Enjoy the Krewe of Boo parade tonight (as well as the New Orleans Saints game) with a glass of freshly brewed beer at Crescent City Brewhouse, which will be passing right in front of the brewpub/restaurant at 527 Decatur Street. Their Oktoberfest seasonal is still on tap along with two new menu items which both incorporate the brewery’s beers. The Southern pulled pork sandwich is spiked with vinegar made with its Red Stallion beer, and the prime beef ribs are braised in the Black Forest beer.

Also tonight, at the Aline Street Beer Garden, 40 Arpent will be on hand to share a cask conditioned version of its Deutches Haus Oktoberfest beer. It’s one of the last kegs of the beer left, so come on by at 7:30 p.m. to enjoy pints for $2.50 while it lasts.

On Halloween proper, the newly opened Courtyard Brewery will be tapping a cask of Saint Arnold’s Pumpkinator at 5 p.m. Costumes are encouraged, and they are working on bringing a food truck to be on site. The firkin of Pumpkinator is the only one being tapped in the state of Louisiana, owner Scott Wood says, adding that Saint Arnold wanted to support the brand new brewery. Also available will be a “very fresh” keg of Sierra Nevada’s winter seasonal, Celebration, another keg of the popular Korova Milk Porter from Gnarly Barley Brewing, as well as the last keg of Great Raft Brewing’s At Arm’s Length IPL (Imperial Pale Lager)

NOLA Brewing will be holding a costume contest during its weekly brewery tour on Friday, from 2-3 p.m. The prize for the winning costume will be a free beer flight of specialty brews and a $25 gift card to use in the NOLA Tap Room.

Across the lake, head over to Covington Brewhouse on the Northshore on the 31st for their Halloween Oktoberfest celebration with costume contest, brewery tours, beer, food, and live music provided by Dash Rip Rock. The event runs from 6-10 p.m., and the band goes on at 8 p.m. One might be able to get a taste of the brewery’s new Electric Porter, if it’s available.

Gnarly Barley owners Zac and Cari Caramonta will be judging Hammond’s Red White & Brew’s Halloween costume contest on Friday at its celebratory “Boo at the Brew” party. Gnarly Barley’s latest release, Korova Milk Porter, will be available, along with Southern Tier’s Pumking. Those looking for a bit more excitement can sample Red White & Brew’s signature Halloween cocktail, the Headless Horseman. Starts at 7 p.m.
