Food trucks and music at Fair Grounds Street Fare Derby Aug. 15-16

The New Orleans Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots (1751 Gentilly Blvd., 504-945-5515) announced the food and music lineup for this year's Street Fare Derby, a two-day festival celebrating the area’s food trucks.

The event takes place during the racetrack’s Summer Quarter Horse Meet on Aug. 15-16.The Fair Grounds' inaugural derby was in 2011. At least 20 food trucks from the Baton Rouge and New Orleans areas will be at the Gentilly Boulevard race track including King Creole, Crepes a la Carte, La Cocinita, Woody’s Fish Tacos and Frencheeze, among others.

Separate vendors supply drinks, and the children’s section includes a pony-petting area and a bounce house.

Live music beginning at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday will be provided by Flowtribe, Johnny Sketch and the Dirty Notes, the John “Papa” Gros Band and Bonerama.

General admission is $10 in advance and $15 at the gate. Children five to 12-years-old are $5 and kids under five get in for free.
