  • Isaac Toups, chef and owner at Toups' Meatery, will compete on the 13th season of Top Chef, which airs Dec. 2-3 on Bravo.

Isaac Toups, the chef and owner of Mid-City’s casual Cajun bistro Toups’ Meatery (845 N. Carrollton Ave., 504-252-4999; www.toupsmeatery.com), will compete on the next season of Top Chef.

The lineup for the hit show’s 13th season, which airs on the Bravo network, was announced Monday (Oct. 19) and features a cast of 17 chefs from all over the country competing for a $125,000 prize and a feature in FOOD & WINE magazine. Toups is the only chef from Louisiana to compete this season.

The show airs Dec. 2 and features a road trip of California, including stops and competitions in six cities, including Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, Santa Barbara, Oakland, and the Palm Springs area.

Toups, who hails from Rayne, Louisiana, honed his kitchen skills at Emeril's Delmonico and spent a decade with Lagasse’s restaurant group. In 2012, Toups and his wife Amanda opened Toups Meatery on N. Carrollton Avenue near City Park. Toups was semi-finalist in 2014 and 2015 for the James Beard Award for Best Chef: South.
