In January, Beach Boys founder and massively influential songwriter Brian Wilson announced a world tour to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the landmark album Pet Sounds
. Wilson announced he would perform the album in its entirety "for a final time" on dates spanning all of 2016 — including a July stop in Bossier City
— and, now, into 2017. The composer returns to Louisiana with a performance on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at the Saenger Theatre in New Orleans.
Wilson and his band — including original Beach Boy Al Jardine and longtime guitarist Blondie Chaplin — have earned acclaim for the performances, which serve as both modern recreations of the pop masterpiece (with Al's son Matt Jardine handling Wilson's now-fragile or lost high-register harmonies) and as bittersweet swan songs to Pet Sounds
and the master at its helm.
