If you live in New Orleans and havent eaten at Uglesichs yet, shame on you. That means youve never had a shrimp Uggie, a concoction of crushed red pepper, bell pepper, hot sauce and onion served with new potatoes. Then theres the deep-fried shrimp and sausage patty topped with Creole mustard sauce. Uglesichs closes during July, August and part of September. No reservations. Lunch Monday through Friday and some Saturdays. Cash only. $$

Owner Jo Ann Clevengers 14th annual Garlic Festival runs from June to July, so get festive with the garlic-crusted fish with grilled leeks and mushrooms.
