IGOR’S
2133 St. Charles Ave. 522-2145
The Igor Burger is a half-pound sirloin patty charbroiled and served with barbecue or Cajun-style sauce and steak fries. Every Monday, the kitchen dishes up honey-baked ham slow cooked with red beans and rice (hint: it’s free at 7 p.m.). Did we mention the laundromat and game rooms complete with pool tables and darts? IGOR’S BUDDHA BELLY BURGER BAR
4437 Magazine St. 891-6105
The path to enlightenment begins with a load of laundry in back and ends with a juicy burger and tap brew at the bar of this popular Uptown hangout. The Breakaway steak sandwich is another heightened culinary experience: shaved steak sauteed in red wine with onions, mushrooms and peppers on a toasted bun with fries, baked potato or pasta salad. No reservations. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and late-night daily. Credit cards. $

IGOR’S CHECK POINT CHARLIE
501 Esplanade Ave. 949-7012
Which comes first, the laundry, the band or the snack? It’s a tough call at this laundromat, music club and restaurant and on the edge of the French Quarter. Here, the Charlie Burger is a half-pound of charbroiled sirloin served with your choice of sauce. There are free red beans and rice at 7 p.m. on laundry day (Monday), and you’ll never be asked for a cover charge. No reservations. Open 24 hours. Credit cards. $

IGOR’S GARLIC CLOVE
2137 St. Charles Ave. 522-6602
Watch the streetcar pass Euro-style as you sip wine at one of the Garlic Clove’s sidewalk tables. While you’re at it, consider the frutti di mare, a gracious pan of fresh seafood served on a bed of pasta or rice with tomato basil, garlic white wine or marinara sauce. Or perhaps you’ll choose the filet St. Charles with a tomato-basil cognac sauce. No reservations. Lunch and dinner daily. Credit cards. $

IMPASTATO’S

Impastato’s luxury van will pick up parties of four or more from hotels or homes at no extra charge. Top that. After the cush drive, cash in on the five-course dinners for $25 per person, including items like crab fingers, homemade fettuccine and a romaine salad. Pecan-smoked filet mignon, fresh Maine lobster and rack of lamb all take top entree billing. Reservations recommended. Dinner Tuesday through Saturday. Credit cards and checks. $$

The base made with rice and lentil batter is similar to a pancake, and it’s topped with chopped onions, tomatoes, and jalapenos. Delivery available. Reservations recommended. Lunch and dinner Wednesday through Monday, brunch weekends. Credit cards and checks. $$

INDIGO
2285 Bayou Road 947-0123

Romesco powder dusted sea bass is a popular choice for an entree, and the Jean Georges molten chocolate cake completes any meal in style. Reservations recommended. Dinner Tuesday through Saturday. Credit cards. $$

IRENE’S CUISINE
539 St. Philip St. 529-8811

The bird’s natural juices are sealed in an oven-roasted embrace of garlic, olive oil and rosemary. If you can make it so far, order the airy tiramisu. No reservations. Dinner daily. Credit cards. $$
