The Justice for All Ball will celebrate its 13th anniversary Friday, Sept. 7, at Gallier Hall.
A fundraiser that supports free legal services for the poor, the ball benefits The Pro Bono Project, a nonprofit organization of volunteer lawyers who represent indigent clients in civil matters. While the 15-year-old Project's volunteer ranks number nearly 1,300, federal statistics show that nearly one-third of the metro area lives in poverty, emphasizing the need for pro bono funding and community support. In addition to Orleans, the Project also serves Jefferson, St. Bernard, St. Tammany and Washington parishes.
Honorary Ball Chair Pres Kabacoff and Project Board Chair S. Guy DeLaup have issued a statement, urging anyone interested in equality under the law "to help ensure that we come closer to the ideal of justice for all in the greater metro area."
This year's event will offer cuisine from 30 top New Orleans restaurants, performances by The Executive Steel Band and Paula and the Pontiacs, and a special Get on the Ball raffle. The party starts at 8 p.m.; tickets are $100, and complimentary parking is provided. Call The Pro Bono Project at 581-4043 for more information or to obtain tickets.
