Bouvet Saphir Brut Vintage
$12.99 Poured into a tumbler, this sparkler from the Loire Valley passes for ginger ale. The delightfully bitterish flavors of yeast and honey, however, are closer to a pale ale, and each carbonated sip will put another shade of inebriation on your cheeks. Made with Chenin Blanc grapes and a dollop of Chardonnay, this full-figured wine is especially charming with food. Experiment with sauteed scallops in a buttery white wine reduction, or chilled shrimp with cocktail sauce. Found at North Shore Wine Merchants, Martin Wine Cellar Uptown and many area restaurants. -- Roahen
