Chateau Camplazens
Syrah-Grenache 1999
Coteaux de Languedoc La Clap
$16-$19 Now we know what happens when a couple leaves New Orleans for a sun-soaked boutique vineyard in the Languedoc region of southern France. There's a cologne-and-sweat quality to the nose of this mostly Grenache blend, along with high cherry notes and green herbs that mimic La Clap's wild moorlands of sage and thyme. Smooth and medium-bodied, it twinkles with soft tannins here, pepper there and a gentle fruitiness that would fare well with tandoori chicken, jambalaya and chili con carne. Found at Elio's Wine Warehouse, Wine Seller, Prytania Liquor Store, Chez Nous Charcuterie, Wine & Spirits Connection, Dorignac's, Foodies Kitchen and Vieux Carré Wine & Spirits. -- Roahen
