Barefoot Reserve
Sonoma County
Pinot Noir 2000
$14-$16 Following the cork straight out of the bottle, this glowing garnet Pinot Noir smells like blackberries ripening just above a layer of thorny underbrush, plus a dusting of cocoa powder. The aromas meld after an hour in the glass, as do flavors of pomegranate, cherries, herbs and a playful scratch of pine needles on the back of the tongue. Drink to complement lamb chops, wild mushroom pastas or salad dressings made with pomegranate molasses. Found at Dorignac's, Hugh's Wine Cellar and Langenstein's and select Sav-A-Center locations. -- Roahen
