AMAZING PLACE, THIS NEW ORLEANS. True Brew Theatre, 200 Julia St., 945-6789. Roberts Batson's solo performance that brings to life the history and characters that helped shape the story of New Orleans based on his Scandal Tours. Tickets $20. Performances 5 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

THE ASSHOLE MONLOGUES. Le Chat Noir, 715 St. Charles Ave., 581-5812. Local columnist Chris Rose's monologues based on interviews with real people. Mikko directs. Also featuring comic Fred "Redbean" Plunkett. Tickets $16 general, $5 actors on Wednesday. Performances 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

DRIVING MISS DAISY. Oak Alley Plantation, Vacherie, (800) 442-5539. Alfred Uhry's Pulitzer Prize-winning play about the relationship between an aging Jewish widow and her black chauffeur in the pre-civil rights South. Tickets $25-$35. Performances 7:30 p.m. Saturday, 1:30 p.m. Sunday, through May 11.

EVENING OF ONE-ACTS. University of New Orleans/Arena Theatre, 280-SHOW. Sam Shepard's Action focuses on four people trapped in isolation with each other, while Dancing With a Devil portrays a young woman's struggle with tragedy. Free admission. Performances 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.

FOOTLOOSE. Jesuit High School Auditorium, 4133 Banks St., 483-3877. One teenager rebels against the oppressive rules of the small town of Bomont in this musical based on the popular '80s movie. Tickets $12.50 reserved, $10 general, $5 Jesuit students. Performances 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

GOODNIGHT IRENE. Anthony Bean Community Theater, 1333 S. Carrollton Ave., 862-PLAY. Biography of the legendary blues guitarist. Anthony Bean directs Chris Thomas King. Tickets $18 general, $16 students and seniors. Performances 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 3 p.m. Sunday, through May 5.

HARVEY. Columbia Players, Inc., 1320 N. Morrison Blvd., Times Square Shopping Center, Hammond, (985) 542-6745. Daryl Ray directs this classic comedy about an eccentric man and his imaginary rabbit friend. Tickets $10 adults, $8 children and seniors. Performances 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

HELL'S BELLES. Cowpokes Theatre Space, 2240 St. Claude Ave., 606-9903. Running With Scissors' latest production (very loosely based on the 1971 film The Beguiled) finds an unsuspecting wounded Union soldier in the midst of a group of naughty Confederate schoolgirls. Brian Peterson and Flynn De Marco star. Tickets $12-15. Performances 8 p.m. Friday through Sunday, through April 28.

IMPORTANT CHICKEN. Martine's, 2347 Metairie Road, Metairie, 739-4091. A political satire written and directed by Christian Champagne, featuring the music of Peter Orr. Tickets $10. Performances 8 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

LATE NIGHT CATECHISM. Le Petit Theatre du Vieux Carré, Directors Studio, 616 St. Peter St., 522-2081. The "Sister" teaches an adult catechism class and alternately rewards and chastises her students. Amanda Hebert stars. Tickets $21 Thursday and Sunday, $26 Friday and Saturday. Performances 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, 1:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday. Open run.

LIQUID LAND. The Pickery, 433 Orange St., 269-2546. Experimental piece focuses on the Louisiana Atchafalaya River Basin Swamp, weaving poetry and images into the abstract plot. Free admission, $5-$10 donations appreciated. Performances 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 3 p.m. Sunday.

THE MADWOMAN OF CHAILLOT. Loyola University, Marquette Theater, 6363 St. Charles Ave., 865-3824. Jean Giraudoux's play centers on a group of businessmen out to swindle a neighborhood over a supposed oil discovery and the cafe owner who plots to stop them. Tickets $10 general, $7 students and seniors. Performances 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.

MONOLOGUES AND MUSIC, FOR THE MONEY, HONEY! Le Chat Noir, 715 St. Charles Ave., 581-5812. The classical ensemble of Michael Harold and Dr. Quinn Peeper provide the score for Nell Nolan Young's latest theatrical production. Reservations recommended. Tickets $19. Performance 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday.

OUR TOWN. Delgado Community College, Third Floor Drama Hall, Building 1, City Park, 483-4817. Thornton Wilder's classic about small-town America. Using the audience as the real-life jury, Shakespeare's Macbeth, played by Dane Rhodes, is tried by a team of Loyola law students and district court Judges in a mock trial.
