1998 Silvan Ridge Pinot Noir
Willamette Valley, Oregon
$15-$18 A lovely, aromatic Pinot Noir from Oregon's cool Willamette Valley, this wine offers bouquets of raspberry, rich cherry and leather with a touch of spice. Featuring a blend of several premier vineyards, this medium-bodied wine offers cherry and plum flavors that dominate the palate, with soft firm tannins on the back side. With its depth of fresh fruit character, this is a winner of numerous gold and silver medals at wine events across the country. Wine Spectator gave the wine an 86. Good with baked chicken, rare tuna and pork tenderloin. Available at Dorignac's, Antonio's Wine Cellar in Gretna, Wine Down and Hugh's Wine Cellar in Mandeville, and Habano's Wine Shop in Slidell. -- Brenda Maitland
