Twenty Louisiana foresters
from the state Department of Agriculture and Forestry have volunteered to travel to Utah and Virginia to battle wildfires in those states. The employees, who work in several forestry districts around Louisiana, are volunteering to help control the spread of wildfires in those states and to gain experience for possible fire disasters in Louisiana.

Randy and Desiree Calamari
of Slidell exemplified the term "good neighbors" recently when Randy found more than $5,000 in cash on the street, and Desiree turned it in to the Slidell police station. After the police publicized the story of the lost loot in local media outlets, the Calamaris' neighbor, Anthony Verdin, claimed the cash, saying he was amazed to get the missing money back.

Tulane's Institute for Macromolecular Engineering and Science
(TIMES) has received a $2.5 million grant from NASA to help develop specialized polymers for the design of astronaut suits, computer chips, aircraft wings, re-entry shields and other equipment needed for space travel. TIMES director and founder Daniel De Kee says the grant reflects NASA's pursuit of materials that are lighter, stronger and able to withstand the harsh conditions of space.

Fred Zeton
has been ordered to reimburse 28 customers who say they were ripped off by the New Orleans contractor. Zeton, owner of Fred's Painting and Contracting Inc. and Zeton A. Inc., must pay $141,000 to ex-clients, who said they paid him in advance but received either botched or incomplete work. Zeton, who pled guilty last year to racketeering and contractor fraud, must pay up or face jail time.
