THE BLACK AND WHITE BLUES. Le Chat Noir, 715 St. Charles Ave., 581-5812. A musical comedy documenting the cuisine culture of New Orleans, told from the viewpoint of waiters and waitresses. JEKYLL & HYDE. Nunez Community College Auditorium, 3710 Paris Road, Chalmette, 277-SHOW. Musical version of Robert Louis Stevenson's tale of one man's struggle with good and evil. Tony Ortego and Bea Vollentine direct. Tickets $17 advance, $20 door. Performances 8 p.m. Friday-Saturday, 3 p.m.

LATE NIGHT CATECHISM. Le Petit Theatre du Vieux Carré, Directors Studio, 616 St. Peter St., 522-2081. The "Sister" teaches an adult catechism class and alternately rewards and chastises her students. MEASURE FOR MEASURE. Lupin Theatre, Tulane University, 865-5105. The Shakespeare Festival at Tulane presents lesser-known dark comedy that serves as commentary on religion, sexuality and government. Tickets $25 general admission, $22 students and $12.50 children. Performances 7:30 p.m. Thursday-Saturday.

SHAKESPEARE ON TRIAL. Le Chat Noir, 715 St. Charles Ave., 581-5812. The series continues, this time with the audience as jury weighing a case for crimes committed in Measure for Measure. The Shakespeare Festival at Tulane presents on its smaller stage this play written by Elizabeth Dubus telling the story of three women adapting to a reality shaped by war and society. Tickets $15. The Shakespeare Festival at Tulane showcases the young theater artists in its summer training program in one of Shakespeare's most ribald and controversial works. Tickets $10 adult, $8 students.
