2000 Alkoomi Sauvignon Blanc
Frankland River, Western Australia
$15-$17
Alkoomi, an Aboriginal word meaning "the place we chose," is a perfect description for Western Australia's Frankland River region. The cool, ideal climate produces marvelous wines, especially this exceptional Sauvignon Blanc, just bursting with superb varietal character. The intensely fragrant bouquet offers clean, herbaceous, passionfruit aromas. On the palate, flavors of grapefruit and exotic tropical fruits mingle with touches of mineral, wild herb and spice leading up to a crisp, dry finish. Well-balanced with crisp, zesty acidity, the wine has not seen oak. Delicious with shrimp, oysters, crabmeat and other seafood dishes. Available at Elio's Wine Warehouse, The Wine Cellar and Acquistapace's Covington Super Market.
